Description
The 2011 Canadian Timber Wolf Silver Bullion Coin was the first release of a new series of wildlife-themed coins issued by the Royal Canadian Mint.
The coin was made of .9999 fine silver and had a weight of one ounce.
The coin featured a reverse design depicting a wolf standing within a snow-covered mountain landscape with the full moon visible above. The design, created by William Woodruff, was originally used on one-half ounce silver bullion coins issued in 2006. The inscriptions on the coin included “Canada” above and “9999 Fine Silver 1 oz Argent Pur” below.
The obverse design featured the Susanna Blunt effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, with inscriptions indicating the year “2011” and the legal tender face value of “5 Dollars”. The coin had a maximum mintage of one million pieces and was initially sold at the same market rate as the Silver Maple Leaf bullion coins.
